Sun Fire[tm] V440, RoHS:YL Server: Repair Procedures

This section provides the most common repair procedures for the Sun Fire V440. The following procedures with their corresponding page numbers are located in the Sun Fire V440 Server Parts Installation and Removal Guide (816-7729).

Component Tips
RoHS Compliance
    Sun Fire V440 Servers may not meet RoHS compliance due to top-cover gasket. (FAB 1000071.1).
ALOM Card
  • Damage to Motherboard connector could occur during removal of ALOM Card from Sun Fire V440 or Netra 440 (FIN I1101-1).
CPU/Memory Module
  • System may fail self-test with "OBP (Open Boot PROM) not responding" on Sun Fire V440 and Netra 440 (FIN I1098-1).
Disk Drive
  • SCSI errors are occurring on the Sun Fire V440 server configurations with internal Hitachi 36GB and 73GB Differential UltraSCSI 320 disk drives (FIN I1040-1).
Memory Module
  • Minimum OBP version is required to support new DIMMs with 333MHz dual data rate. (FIN I1148-1).
  • Systems will fail to pass self-test if the OBP version is below the required minimum level to support the JEDEC SPD 1.0 formatted DIMMs (FIN I1092-1).
PCI Fan Tray
  • A specific group of Sun Fire V440 systems may have incorrectly mounted PCI Fans (FIN I1156-1).
System Board
  • Damage to Motherboard connector could occur during removal of ALOM Card from Sun Fire V440 or Netra 440 (FIN I1101-1).
  • Sun Fire V440 and Netra 440 systems using a specific networking configuration may unexpectedly reset (FIN I1099-1).
  • Sun Fire V440 and Netra 440 systems using a specific networking configuration may unexpectedly reset. (FCO A0245-1).
Graphics Card
  • XVR-600 graphics card can cause rendering performance issue when performing simultaneous rendering update with OpenGL windows. (FIN I1161-1).
