Troubleshooting Steps

  • Has replication been enabled on both the source and the target ?
    https://<appliance IP>:215/#configuration/services=replication
  • Has the target been set up properly ?
    https://<appliance IP>:215/wiki/index.php/Shares:Projects:Replication#Creating_and_Editing_Targets
  • Has a replication action been set up?
    https://10.145.231.221:215/wiki/index.php/Shares:Projects:Replication#Creating_and_Editing_Actions
  • When setting up the target in the BUI in Services -> Remote Replication -> Targets, does it report "Unable to connect to hostname: '<hostname or IP address>' ?
If  so, can each head ping the other head ? From the aksh in the cli, type
    S7000:> ping <ipaddress or name>

If the heads can ping one-another, is there a firewall between the 2 systems that is blocking port 216? To check, from a system on the same subnet as the source, type
    # telnet <hostname or IP address> 216

It should report "Connected to <hostname>"
  • What revision of the fishworks software are the source and target running ? If either the source or the target are at different revision levels, read the Release Notes to see if they are compatible. To check the revision level click on the logo in the top left of the BUI.
