Goal

Netra 210 -  How to Remove and Replace PCI Card

Fix

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?:

Netra 210 product training is desirable but not required, as the part is a CRU

TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Faulty PCI Card


WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:


A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.


WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:

The following procedures describe how to remove and install individual PCI cards into the Netra 240 server.

Removing a PCI Card

1.Power off the server.

2.Remove the server cover.

3.Open the rotating service module.

4.Ensure that the server is properly grounded.

5. Completely remove the air duct.

6. Locate the PCI card.

7. Loosen the PCI card thumbscrew at the chassis rear panel.

8. Rotate the PCI card latch clockwise.

9. Lift up on the PCI card retainer knob and slide the retainer forward.

10. Remove the PCI card from the slot.

 

Installing a PCI Card

1. Locate where the PCI card installs. The PCI card installs at the left rear of the chassis.

2. Loosen the PCI card thumbscrew at the chassis rear panel.

3. Rotate the PCI card latch clockwise.

4. If present, remove the filler panel from the chassis rear panel.

5. Lift up on the PCI card retainer knob and slide the retainer forward.

6. Remove the PCI card from its shipping container and antistatic packaging.

7. Install the PCI card into the slot.

8. Rotate the PCI card latch counter-clockwise so that it holds the PCI card in place.

9. Tighten the PCI card thumbscrew at the chassis rear panel.

10. Lift up on the PCI card retainer knob and slide the retainer back to secure the PCI

 

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO
RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Bring system back up to a functioning state.
Restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.
