 Netra 210 - How To Remove and Replace Netra 240 Memory DIMM

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?:

Netra 210 product training is desirable but not required, as the part is a CRU

TIME ESTIMATE: 45 mins

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Memory Faulure - Faulty Memory Dimm/s

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:

Removing Memory

1. Power off the server, remove the server from the rack, and remove the top cover and airduct.

2. Locate the memory. The memory is located near the center of the system board, just right of the CPU.

3. Press down on the ejector levers at both ends of the memory module.

4. Lift the memory straight up and out of the socket.

5. Set the memory aside on an antistatic mat.

6. Repeat Step 3 to Step 5 for each memory module to be removed.

Installing Memory

1. Locate where the memory installs. The memory installs in matched pairs near the center of the system board, just right of the CPU. For each CPU, install the first matched pair in Bank0 (B0). Install the second matched pair in Bank1 (B1).

2. Remove one memory module from its shipping container and antistatic packaging.

3. Position the memory over the respective slot, with the notch in the memory aligning to the key of the slot.

4. Press the memory down into the slot firmly until it clicks into place.

5. Repeat Step 3 to Step 5 for each memory module to be installed.

6. Install the air duct and top cover, install the server into the rack, power on the server, and verify the installation

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
   WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?:

Bring system back up to a functioning state.
Restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.
