Goal

How to set SNMP traps for certain library events.

Fix

Run the addTrapRecipient snmp command to specify the trap level(s) you would like the management system to monitor for.

For example, to monitor for the library going offline, you can specify:
SL8500> snmp addTrapRecipient trapLevel 25 host version v2c community public.

Trap level 25 (slTrapLibStatusCheck) will send an alert notification when the library condition changes to a check condition, such as degraded or not-operative.
To verify, schedule a maintenance window when you can offline the library using the SLConsole.

You can specify more than one trap level in the addTrapRecipient command.

A list of supported SNMP traps (also known as events or notifications) for the StorageTek Modular Libraries is available in the SNMP Reference Guide -
