WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED:
Sun Blade 1500 product training is desirable but not required, as a CRU part

TASK COMPLEXITY: 0

TIME ESTIMATE: 45 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Front Fan failure

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

 WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/CUSTOMER ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE:

Removing the Front Fan

1. Power off the system and open the chassis.

2. Locate the front fan.

3. Remove the front fan cable from the bezel cable clip.

4. Disconnect the front fan cable.

5. Release the front fan bracket.

Caution – Do not operate the workstation without the front fan.

 

Installing the Front Fan

1. Locate where the front fan is to be installed.

2. Remove the front fan assembly from its packaging.

3. Align the front fan bracket with the chassis.

4. Secure the front fan bracket.

5. Connect the front fan power cable to the motherboard connector FAN0 SYS

6. Route the front fan cable through the bezel cable clip.

7. Inspect the front fan, fan cabling

8. Install the access panel, power on the system, and verify the component installation.

 

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN the SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.
