Sun Blade 1500/Sun Blade 2500 product training is desirable but not required, as the part is a CRU

TASK COMPLEXITY: 0

TIME ESTIMATE: 45 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Battery failure

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

 WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/CUSTOMER ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE:

Removing the Battery

1.Power off the system, then open and position the chassis.

2.Locate the battery.

3.Release the battery by squeezing the battery latch together until the battery shifts out of the motherboard socket.

4.Remove the battery.

The workstation does not function without the battery.

 

Installing the Battery

The battery installs directly onto the motherboard. There are no additional fasteners or cables.

1.Open and position the chassis.

2.Identify the battery installation site.

3.Tilt the battery into the battery connector, angling the battery under the latch.

4.Slide the battery until it clicks into place.

5.Ensure that the battery latch secures the battery in its connector.

6.Reposition the chassis, install the access panel, power on the system, and verify the component installation.

 

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN the SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.
