WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?:
Netra 240 product training is desirable but not required, as the part is a CRU

TASK COMPLEXITY: 0

TIME ESTIMATE: 45 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Alarm board failure

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/CUSTOMER ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE:

Replacing the Alarm Board

1.Power off the server.

2.Remove the server cover.

3.Open the rotating service module.

4.Ensure that the server is properly grounded.

5.Push back the securing tabs and detach the ribbon cable and the cable to the SCSI board

6.Using a No. 2 Phillips screwdriver, loosen the green captive screw that secures the alarm board to the rotating service module

7.Lift the alarm board up and out of the server.

 Installing the Alarm Board

1.Place the alarm board into position in the rotating service module

2.Tighten the captive screw to secure the alarm board to the rotating service module

3.Connect the ribbon cable and the cable to the SCSI board to the alarm board and set the securing tabs

4.Close the rotating service module.

5.Install the server cover.

6.Plug in power & power up system to return the server to operation line

 

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN the SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.
