PROBLEM OVERVIEW: How to Remove/Replace the Mailslot/CAP in a StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: The SL150 library will need to be brought to an offline state from the Web GUI
WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:

To Remove the Mailslot/CAP:

1. Open the failed Mailslot

a.Log into the Web GUI as an admin user.

b.Click on Mailslot on the right side of the graphical illustration of the SL150 library.  This will show a drop down box.

c.Click on Open.  This will bring up a message at the top of the page stating that to Open the mailslot you must click OK.

d.Click on OK.  The robot will go up to the mailslot and will release the latch that locks it in place.

2. Remove the Mailslot until it hits the safety latch.

3. Push down on the safety latch so that it disengages and then pull the Mailslot out making sure that you tilt it slightly back so that if there are any tapes in the Mailslot they won't fall onto the floor.

Note: If there are any tapes in the Mailslot please take them out and set them aside so that they can be entered into the library later.

4. Discard the Mailslot.

To Replace the Mailslot/CAP:

1 .Remove the replacement Mailslot from its packaging.

2. Slide the mailslot in slowly past the safety latch and then all of the way in until the mailslot locks into place.

If there were any tapes that were removed from the failed mailslot you can now enter them from the replacement mailslot into the library.
