FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
   PROBLEM OVERVIEW: How to Replace an USB Expansion Communication Cable on the StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library
   WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: The SL150 library should be brought to an offline state from the Web GUI.
   WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:

 

To Remove the USB Expansion Communication Cable:

1. Locate and label if needed the failed USB cable.

Note: You can unplug one end of the USB cable so that it can be distinguished as the failed USB cable.

2. Power down the SL150 library from the Web GUI.

   a. Log into the Web GUI as an admin user.

   b. Click on the Power Icon up in the top left corner of the Web GUI.  This will reveal a drop down box.

   c. Click on Power Down Library from the drop down box.

   d. Click OK.

3. Once the library is powered down take the velcro cable tie off of the USB cable/cables.

4. Unplug the USB cable and discard.

 

To Replace the USB Expansion Communication Cable:

1. Take the replacement USB cable out of the packaging.

2. Plug in one end of the USB cable to the Expansion Module and then the other end to any of the open USB ports on the Base Module.

3. Route and dress the USB cable in the velcro strap so that it is out of the way and thus won't be accidentily unplugged.

4. Power on by pushing the power buttion on the front of the SL150 library.

When the SL150 is fully powered on and has completed the initialization verify that all of the Expansion Modules are seen from either the front OP Panel or the Web GUI.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
   WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?: The SL150 library will need to be brought to an online state from the Web GUI.
