How to Reset the Password on a StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library

Fix

If any of the passwords on the SL150 library except for the admin user are lost you can simply use the admin user to reset those users' and passwords.

To Change a User's Password:

1.Log into the Web GUI for the SL150 library

2.Click on Settings in the main menu at the left of the screen.

3.Click on the Users tab

4.Click on the user that you want to change the password for

5.Click on Change Password

A window will pop up containing a Password and a Verify Password input box.

6.Input the new password in the Password input box and then again in the Verify Password input box

7.Click on OK to commit the new password

If the admin password is lost on the SL150 library then a Factory Reset must be done on the SL150 library.

SL150 - What is the StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library Default Password for the Initial Config Wizard (Doc ID 1473831.1)

To Initiate a Factory Reset:

1. Place one person at the front of the SL150 library and one person at the rear of the SL150 library.

Note: The SL150 library will need to be in a powered up/booted up state (the Linux kernel boot has to be complete).

2.The person at the front of the library will need to push and hold the locate button on the front of the SL150 library and then the person at the rear of the library will need to push and hold the locate button on the rear of the SL150 library.

3.Continue to hold in the front and rear locate buttons until they start to flash quickly.

4.When the front and rear locate buttons flash at a fast rate you can stop holding them and the library will do a factory reset and will reinitialize.

5.You now will have to go through the Initial Config Wizard in order to setup the admin user password on the SL150 library.
