FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
PROBLEM OVERVIEW: How To Remove/Replace an Expansion Controller Card (KLE) CRU In the StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: The SL150 library should be offline to the host
WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:
To Remove the Failed Expansion Controller Card:
1.Enable the Locate indicator on the library with the failed module controller from the Web GUI so that you make sure you replace the Expansion controller card in the correct library.
2.Locate the module with the failed controller.
3.Disconnect the power cable/cables from the expansion module power supplies.
4.Disconnect the expansion cable from the connector on the module controller (KLE) card. Do not disconnect the other end of the cable from the base module.
5.Release the latch:
a.Squeeze the latch sections together.
b. Extend the latch fully away from the module.
5.Pull the controller (KLE) card out of the module slot.
6.Set the module controller (KLE) card on the anti-static work surface.
To Replace the new Expansion Controller (KLE) Card:
1.Remove the replacement module controller (KLE) card from the ESD packaging.
Caution – ESD damage. Do not touch any electronic components or electrical contacts.
2.Grasp the module controller (KLE) card without touching any of its components or electrical contacts.
3.Open the retaining latch.
4.Insert the module controller (KLE) card in the module slot.
5.Seat the latch to secure the module controller.
6.Connect the expansion cable to the connector on the module controller.
7.Insert the failed module controller into the ESD packaging.
8.Restart the library:
a.Log in to the SL150 remote interface.
b. Click the power icon in the upper left of the screen.
c. Select Restart Library.
d. Click OK.
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?: Bring the SL150 library back online from the Web GUI.
