FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
   PROBLEM OVERVIEW: How To Remove/Replace a Cartridge Magazine CRU In the StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library.


   WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE
RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: The SL150 must be Offline to the host.


   WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE:

The following procedure relies on the SL150 remote interface. This procedure is intended only for removal of a magazine while the library is operational. This procedure is not intended as a preparation step for the removal of a failed library module.


Note – If you are not able to log in to the remote library interface, see the “To Remove a Cartridge Magazine Manually” procedure below.


1. Log in to the SL150 remote interface using your browser.
2. Unlatch the cartridge magazine:
   a. Set the library offline.

   - Click on Library Is Online and then click on Set Library Offline and then click OK to confirm.
   b. Locate the appropriate module number (scroll as necessary).
   c. Click the label of the magazine you want to remove.
   d. Select Unlatch .
   e. Click OK to confirm the unlatch action.

Caution – Although the magazine contains cartridge retention springs, use care while holding or moving the magazine to avoid dropping cartridges.

To Remove a Cartridge Magazine Manually

Caution – Manually removing a magazine can cause damage to the robotic mechanism. Power down the library before beginning this procedure.

1. Insert the hex key, provided in the installation kit, into the hole at the lower inside corner of the cartridge magazine.
2. Align the tool parallel to the magazine face .
3. Push the tool slowly into the hole to release the latch located behind the touch screen.
4. Grasp the magazine opening and pull the magazine a short distance out of the library.
5. Remove the tool and store it for future use.
6. Support the bottom of the magazine with your other hand during removal.

Caution – Although the magazine contains cartridge retention springs, use care while holding or moving the magazine to avoid dropping cartridges.

7. Pull the magazine free of the module and set it aside.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
   WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO  
    RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE: After the audit completes they will need to online the library from the Web GUI.

PARTS NOTE: This action plan covers both the Right hand and Left hand magazines
