DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED: No specific skills required
- TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes
- TASK COMPLEXITY: 0

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Failed/Faulty SCSI Hard Disk Drive

- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution

- WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1. Follow standard ESD procedures

2. SCSI HDDs are hot-pluggable in integrated-mirroring (IM) configurations. Refer to the Section "Integrated Mirroring" in the Sunfire v20z/v40z User's Guide for more information.

3. If you are not using an integrated-mirroring (IM) configuration, power off the server, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the server from the electrical outlet. You do not need to remove the top cover for this procedure.

4. If you are using an IM configuration, start with Step 5.

5. Squeeze the release latch and carefully swing the arm to the left as far as it will go.

6. Grasp the carrier bezel with both hands and carefully pull the carrier out of the drive bay. Avoid using the arm to remove the carrier.

7. Grasping the body of the drive in both hands, carefully guide the connector end of the carrier into the drive bay, sliding the carrier into the bay until the arm engages and partially closes itself.

8. Push the arm forward and latch it to lock the carrier in place.
