DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED:
Familiar with SCSI concepts in general

TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes
TASK COMPLEXITY: 1

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS::
    - PROBLEM OVERVIEW

  * A component other then a Disk Drive has failed, such as a Fan or Power Supply that is not a separate FRU, such as a internal connector, fan, or system board.

    - WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE:
  * Note 1: First determine if the host supports the attachment and de-attachment of external SCSI devices while powered on (hot swapping).

     If it does you can start at step 3.)


1.) Make note of the SCSI ID assigned to the drives that you are going to remove.

2.) Power off the attached host if necessary (see the Note 1).

3.) Power off the Sun StorEdge S1 Array.

4.) Discconnect the SCSI and power cables of the array that you are going to remove.

5.) Remove the drives from the array and pay attention to their originial position.

6.) Remove the array from the rack.


OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
    - WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER/CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO
    AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

7.) Install the new Sun StorEdge S1 array.

8.) Re-attach the SCSI and power cables.

9.) Re-install the drives in their original position.

10.) Power on the Sun StorEdge S1 Array

11.) Power on the host (if necessary, see Note 1)

12.) Check the accessibility of the drives.
