When Sun Storage 7000 Unified Storage System is added to an Active Domain, each of its active interfaces will also be added to the DNS.
If the interfaces don't already have unique names, they will all get the SAME hostname in the DNS.

Goal

This document describes two ways to ensure that the NDMP service on the Sun Storage 7000 Unified Storage System provides the unique IP address of the interface which the NDMP backup data should use for data transfer.

Fix

A Sun Storage 7000 Unified Storage System that has joined an active domain, should provide a unique IP address of the interface that it is intending to use for NDMP data transfer.

In order to establish the NDMP daemon IP address correctly, there are 2 methods:

1. By default the NDMP data connection is established via the same hostname/ip-address as the NDMP control connection.

When the Sun Storage 7000 Unified Storage System is added to the active domain, ALL it's active IP addresses are added to the DNS with the SAME hostname.

-> Remove the IP addresses of the Series 7000 system that are not to be used by NDMP from DNS

    OR

-> Change the hostname for those addresses in DNS.

2. There is an ndmp parameter called "mover-nic".  This parameter can be set with a workflow.  Please contact Oracle Customer Support to request that workflow.

See CR 7007510 for the workflow.   It may also be useful to add the SR to CR 7007510.

If the number of requests is high enough it may be worth the effort to implement setting this ndmp mover-nic parameter from the CLI/BUI.
