DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS

The coin cell battery should be retrieved from your personal stock of coin cell batteries.  If you have a battery, please cancel the part order and then accept the task.  If you require this order to proceed, please do not cancel the part order and accept the task as normal.

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)
T6300 training is desirable but not required

TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes

TASK COMPLEXITY: 0

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: failed T6300 system battery

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

Prepare for service by performing the following tasks:

    Shut Down the Oracle Solaris OS
    Prepare the Server Module for Removal
    Remove the Server Module From the Modular System
    Remove the Cover
    ESD Safety Measures


WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1. Remove the service processor from the server module.

2. Carefully remove the battery from the service processor.

3. Install the replacement battery with the positive side (+) facing upward (away from the card).

4. Replace the service processor.

5. Return the server module to operation.

6. Use the ALOM CMT setdate command to set the clock’s day and time.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Boot system and monitor boot sequence for errors. Test functionality of system. Restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.
