FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Fan failure

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

Take ESD Precautions

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

A. Remove a Fan Module

1. Check the front or rear panel System Fault LED. A fan fault will cause the System Fault LED (on front and rear of server) as well as a Fan Fault LED in the array of fan status LEDs to be lighted.  If the color of a Fan Fault LED is amber, replace the corresponding fan module.

2. Remove the filter tray.

3. Grasp the lever at the bottom of the fan module and move the lever to the left

4. Pull the fan module out from the chassis by the lever

B. Install a Fan Module

1. Align the fan module to the location where it installs into the chassis.  The lever is on the bottom front of the fan module, the connector is on the top rear.

2. Move the lever to the left and slide the fan module into the chassis

3. Push the fan module into the chassis until the lever moves slightly to the right.

4. Move the lever to the right to fully seat the fan module into the chassis.

5. Install the filter tray.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
