Goal

Bring the awareness of customers and the Field to save unncessary trip of DIMM replacement.

Fix

When the fault is diagnosed to a single DIMM onto the Netra CP3260 blade and replacement is needed, please be sure to order a PAIR instead just one single DIMM.

If the new DIMM is from the same vendor of the existing DIMMs, replace the single problematic DIMM.

If the new DIMM is from a different vendor of the existing DIMMs, replace the PAIR of DIMM with the SAME vendor (the newly replaced PAIR should have the same vendor if different from the exisiting DIMMs).

To verify the existing DIMM vendor, please use the "showfru" command on one of the following component from the ALOM:

/SYS/MB/CMP0/BR0/CH0/D0
/SYS/MB/CMP0/BR0/CH1/D0
/SYS/MB/CMP0/BR1/CH0/D0
/SYS/MB/CMP0/BR1/CH1/D0
/SYS/MB/CMP0/BR2/CH0/D0
/SYS/MB/CMP0/BR2/CH1/D0
/SYS/MB/CMP0/BR3/CH0/D0
/SYS/MB/CMP0/BR3/CH1/D0

Or one of the following "show" command form ILOM:

-> show -level all /SYS/MB/CMP0

-> show -o table -level all /SYS/MB/CMP0

If the DIMMs are from different vendor in the same bank, it could cause the entire channel (CH0/CH1) to be disabled; and only half of the memory size is visible to the blade.  This will be a big issue for the cusotmer.
