Device Considerations and setup steps for Mx000 Servers.
Solution
M4000 / M5000
The below table shows which XSB is used with which device. When creating 2 domains on a M4000, the XSB 00-0 would be in one domain and XSB 00-1 will have to be used in the other domain to access an external boot device.
XSB | CPU | Memory Board | I/O |
PSB0 ( M4000 / M5000 )
|
00-0 | CPUM#0-CHIP#0 | MEMB#0 | Disks 0 & 1, DVD/DAT, GbE, IOU#0-PCI#0, IOU#0-PCI#1, IOU#0-PCI#2 |
00-1 | CPUM#0-CHIP#1 | MEMB#1 | IOU#0-PCI#3, IOU#0-PCI#4 |
00-2 | CPUM#1-CHIP#0 | MEMB#2 | None |
00-3 | CPUM#1-CHIP#1 | MEMB#3 | None |
PSB1 ( M5000 Only )
|
01-0 | CPUM#2-CHIP#0 | MEMB#4 | Disks 2 & 3, GbE, IOU#1-PCI#0, IOU#1-PCI#1, IOU#1-PCI#2 |
01-1 | CPUM#2-CHIP#1 | MEMB#5 | IOU#1-PCI#3, IOU#1-PCI#4 |
01-2 | CPUM#3-CHIP#0 | MEMB#6 | None |
01-3 | CPUM#3-CHIP#1 | MEMB#7 | None |

M8000/M9000 IO Rules
NOTE: In order to control the IOU hard disks the IOU has to be fitted with an IOU/A adaptor card in the following slots
- Slot 0: control access to DVD/DAT, access to Base IO card's 2 gbe's, and control access to Disks 0 & 1
- Slot 1:
- Slot 2: control access to DVD/DAT, access to Base IO card's 2 gbe's
- Slot 3:
- Slot 4: control access to DVD/DAT, access to Base IO card's 2 gbe's, and control access to Disks 2 & 3
- Slot 5:
- Slot 6: control access to DVD/DAT, access to Base IO card's 2 gbe's
- Slot 7:
IObox Link cards should only be installed in the odd numbered slots.
