GoalReplace a Rear Fan Module on a Sun Netra 6000 Modular SystemSolutionDISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED: Basic Sun hardware FE skills, familiarity or training for Sun Netra 6000 platform. - TIME ESTIMATE: 15 minutes - TASK COMPLEXITY: 0 = CRU replacement FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS: - PROBLEM OVERVIEW: How to replace a Rear Fan Module in a Sun Netra 6000 Modular System. - WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: The Rear Fan Modules can be removed and replaced from a powered-off system or from a powered-on system using a hot-swap procedure. Note : Ensure that you install the rear fan module supported for the modular system chassis that you have. See "Differences Between Chassis Models and Their Replacement Components" on page 16 of the Service Manual (you can find it at https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19945-01/) for more information. - WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE: How to remove a Rear Fan Module1. At the rear of the chassis, locate the fan module that you want to remove.The amber Fan Service LED on the module will be ON. 2. Press and hold the green button on the fan handle. 3. Pull out the rear fan module in a smooth motion until it is free from the chassis. How to remove a Rear Fan Module1. In the back of the system chassis, locate the vacant fan module slot.2. Using both hands, align the fan module with the vacant slot. Make sure that the green button on the handle of the fan module is at the top of the fan. 3. Slide the fan module into the vacant slot until the front panel meets the chassis. Note : After you install the rear fan module, the chassis management module (CMM) automatically detects the new module.
