Goal

This document explains steps to identify the initiator IQN on ZFS Storage Appliance (ZFFSA.)

Fix

What is an Initiator IQN?

The initiator IQN is iSCSI Qualified Name assigned to your host's network port.
Initiator IQNs are used on ZFSSA in conjunction with target groups and initiator groups to control access to the LUN from the host.

Steps to identify the initiator IQN

Follow the steps below to identify initiator IQNs.

1. Log on to the appliance CLI:

solaris$ ssh -l root 192.168.150.21
Password:
oratkyar1:>

2. Run following commands to verify initiator IQNs.

oratkyar1:> configuration san initiators iscsi
oratkyar1:configuration san initiators iscsi> show
Initiators:

NAME ALIAS
initiator-000 solinit1
            |
            +-> INITIATOR
              iqn.1986-03.com.sun:01:c0daaf0801ff.4eb8f65f

Children:
groups => Manage groups

oratkyar1:configuration san initiators iscsi> select initiator-000
oratkyar1:configuration san initiators iscsi initiator-000> show
Properties:
alias = solinit1
initiator = iqn.1986-03.com.sun:01:c0daaf0801ff.4eb8f65f
chapuser =
chapsecret =

oratkyar1:configuration san initiators iscsi initiator-000>

The initiator IQN must match with the IQN on the initiator host.
