TIME ESTIMATE: 90 Minutes TASK COMPLEXITY: 0 PROBLEM OVERVIEW What: Replace a Sun ZFS Storage 7110 PCI Riser Board. Where: [Chassis S/N: , Slot No of the PCI raiser board should be inserted by TSC]. Why : PCI raiser board has been reported failed or faulted by the appliance WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? : Ensure that all power is removed from the appliance before removing or installing riser cards. You must disconnect the power cables before performing this procedure. WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE: 1. Prepare the server for service: 1.1. Shutdown the appliance and disconnect the power cord(s). 1.2. Remove the appliance from the rack. 1.3. Attach an antistatic wrist strap. 1.4. Remove the top cover. 2. Disconnect any data cables connected to the cards on the PCIe riser card being removed. Label the cables to ensure proper connection later. Note: Each riser supports two PCIe cards. There are three risers per system, each attached to the rear of the motherboard. Two x8 PCI Express/XAUI Risers are installed in Slot 0/3 and Slot 1/4. One x8/x16 form-factor PCI Express Riser is installed in Slot 2/5. 3. Remove the back panel PCI crossbar: 3.1. Loosen the two captive Phillips screws on the end of the PCI crossbar. 3.2. Lift the PCI crossbar up and back to remove it from the chassis. 4. Remove the PCIe riser from the system: 4.1. Loosen the captive screw holding the riser to the motherboard. 4.2. Lift up the riser and any PCIe cards that are attached to it as a unit. (The server can have up to three PCIe risers. Each riser can support two PCIe cards.) Installing PCI Riser 5. Lower the PCIe riser and any cards attached to it into the system: Slide the back of the riser into the motherboard back panel stiffener. 6. Tighten the screw that secures the riser to the motherboard. 7. Install the back panel PCI crossbar: 7.1. Slide the crossbar down over the PCIe risers. 7.2. Secure the PCI crossbar to the chassis with two captive Phillips screws. 8. Return system to operational state 8.1. Install the top cover. 8.2. Ensure covers are secure and reinstall the appliance back in its original rack location. 8.3. Reconnect power cord(s) to power supply and power on appliance. Verify AC Present LED is lit. 8.4. Confirm appliance powers boots and BUI is available. WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE: Confirm there are no faults reported in the appliance BUI. Mark Repaired" any prior faults related to PCI Riser Board. Check both BUI /CLI access and client data access.
