How to Remove and Replace a 2530-M2/2540-M2 Disk Array RAID Controller

TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes

TASK COMPLEXITY: 0

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ADMINISTRATOR OR ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)

None. This is a Customer Replaceable Unit with no training requirement.

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
RAID Controller has been determined as failed.

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
Array power must be on. DO NOT replace the controller with the power off.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1. Using CAM, verify the controller status as OFFLINE. If it is not OFFLINE, use the Service Advisor for the array under Place the Controller Offline.
2. Use the Service Advisor procedure for Controller Removal and Replacement to replace the controller.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
1. Alarms for Offline Controller, RPA Memory Error, Drive Tray Lost Redundancy, and Drive Path Degraded no longer present on the system.
2. Controllers are both in an Online Status
3. Check for any Volumes not on their preferred path, look at the hosts that access them, and failback the paths.
