Goal
Have a CAP installed in an SL3000 base module and shared between two FC-SCSI partitions.
Found that it is not possible to select both partitions on the [CAP Assignment] screen from [Tools -> Shared CAP Assignment] on the SL Console, which only allows to check one of the partitions, but not both. It follows that whenever we want to access the CAP for a partition that is not currently selected on the [CAP Assignment] screen, we need to do so manually on the SL console to grab control of the CAP. Please refer to the attached screenshot.
Would like to know if the above observation is an expected SL3000 feature. Customer is concerned about the extra work required of their operators to toggle manually between two partitions for shared CAP assignment on the SL Console.
Fix
Yes. This is normal operations.
=========================================================================
Apart from the SL Console users admin and service, customer would like to know if there exists an SL3000 user account with the least privilege that enables him or her to assign and un-assign a shared CAP to a partition. Otherwise, please advise on the procedure of creating such a user, as I couldn't locate the relevant information from the SL3000 user guide.
The only account available to customer is the admin account... There is no possibility of creating a new account with less privileges or restricting the privileges at this moment in time ...
(on SL3000 and SL500 and SL8500)

A screenshot appears in the section "Change a User Password" on p.84 of the SL3000 User Guide to show there exist other users than service and admin in the SL Console, such as advsrv, eng, mfd, oem, etc.
It may show other users for engineering and support use....(very secure) but they are not available to customer and have more privileges and not less...
The only account available to customer is the admin account... There is no possibility of creating a new account with less privileges or restricting the privileges at this moment in time ...
