Install Solarwinds VM Monitor on your Windows system.
Open SNMP firewall ports on ESX server you want to monitor
Restart or start snmpd on ESX server
Configure snmpd to run at system startup on ESX server
After installing VM Monitor it will need to be configured to point at your ESX server. This can be by IP address or via DNS name.

Execute the following command at the COS terminal:
#/sbin/chkconfig snmpd on
Verify the setting with:
#chkconfig --list | grep snmpd
snmptrapd 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:off 4:off 5:off 6:off
snmpd 0:off 1:off 2:on 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off
Example:
# service snmpd restart
Stopping snmpd: [ OK ]
Starting snmpd: [ OK ]
