Goal

The customer was asking if they can use the 1B port to connect to there network to use for SL Console. Currently they are using the 2A and 2B ports for SL8500 controller and the 1A port for SDP. The 2A and 2B port are on a secure network that can not be accessed by desktops...Can the 1B port be used ?

Solution

Port 1B is reserved.  It is going to be used for a future Dual Electronics enhancement to the ILC (creating a redundant ILC network).   Therefore, it is a similar port to 1A and must be protected from IP conflicts.
We do not allow customer attachment to the 1A ILC network. Only ILC, SDP and a local CSE pc for service. So by extension, no 1B connection allowed. Also, there is no routing on that port that we are aware of.

Short answer... No.
