Information in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
To provide information on how to find the FW levels of the components that comprise a VTL appliance.
Solution
- VTL Software
There are three ways to find VTL software level:
- From VTL Console GUI, highlight server name and select "Version Info" tab:

...

Note: scroll down to bottom of screen to see latest patch applied.
- From Xray, view "updates" file which lists all patches applied (looks the same as the patch list in the GUI above). At the bottom will be last patch applied. For example:
28Feb11_160518 install update-vt165621solaris10, ...
First it list time stamp of when patch was applied (in this example, it was on feb 28, 2011 at 16:05:18).
After the word 'install" is the Build and patch level (in this example, it is Build1656 Patch 21 for Solaris 10 platform)
- From VTL server command line, view the "updates" file in /usr/local/vtl/etc/ and see step 2 above on how to interpret.
- Disk array
There are two ways to find disk array FW levels:
- From SANtricity (using SANtricity version 10.50.G2.13), goto "Array Management", and from "Summary" tab under "Status" section, select "Storage Array Profile".
Find "Current Configuration" section and FW levels are listed. For example:
Current configuration
Firmware version: 07.50.15.10
NVSRAM version: N6091-750843-049
- From supportdata files, open zip file and view "storageArrayProfile.txt". Look for "Current Configuration" section and FW version is listed. As step 1 above also shows.
- Server BIOS
- From Xray, view "info" file:
V40z:
<System Diagnostic Information : "/usr/platform/`uname -m`/sbin/prtdiag -v">
System Configuration: Sun Microsystems, Inc. Sun Fire V40z
BIOS Configuration: Phoenix Technologies Ltd. V2.35.3.2 09/29/2006
x4200/4600:
<System Diagnostic Information : "/usr/platform/`uname -m`/sbin/prtdiag -v">
System Configuration: Sun Microsystems Sun Fire X4600 M2
BIOS Configuration: American Megatrends Inc. 0ABIT126 03/05/2009
- From VTL server command line, enter the following command and refer to step 1:
# /usr/platform/`uname -m`/sbin/prtdiag -v
- SP/ILOM (SW pkg)
- From ILOM, System Information>Versions tab:

- From SP command line:
- > version
SP firmware 3.0.3.31
SP firmware build number: 42422
SP firmware date: Fri Mar 6 11:21:47 CST 2009
SP filesystem version: 0.1.22
- From SP logs.
Find "summaryLog" in output and version will be right below:
==== File summaryLog ====
Version: V2.4.0.20
