DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED:
Familiar with C4 library
- TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes

- TASK COMPLEXITY: 0

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
C4 magazine is damaged/ defective and requires replacement.

- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE
RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:
C4 library and drives should be offline to the Operating System and Software Application.

- WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE:
Refer to the C4/Quantum PX500 Service Manual for complete instruction on replacing the Cartridge Magazine.

Use the following procedure to remove the tape magazine:
1. On the front OCP, press the Ops button from the Home screen.
The OCP displays the Operations screen.

Note:
The library must be off-line to select any option from the Operations screen.

2. From the Ops screen, use the up and down arrows to highlight Library Operations and press Enter.
    The Library Operations screen displays (see figure 88).
3. Use the up and down arrows to highlight the Release magazines option and press Enter.
4. Use the up and down arrows to highlight the magazine to be removed (right, left, or all) and press Enter.
    The magazine doors open and the magazines are released.
5. Pull each magazine being replaced from the library (see figure 89).

Warning:
Use care when removing a magazine with tape cartridges installed.  The magazine is heavy and will drop when free of the library.

6. Install the magazine handle to the magazine and secure with three PHILLIPS screws.
7. Insert the new magazine into the library (see figure 90).

Note:
Insert tape cartridge prior to inserting the magazines entirely into the library.

8. Close the library front doors.

The magazine upgrade procedure is complete.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Bring C4 library back online to Operating System and Software Application.
