Place drive offline to OS and software application. - WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE: HP LTO Preparation: If the drives are daisy-chained, stop all data processing in the channel before disconnecting them. Warning: Electrocution hazard: Do not tough any components on the power supply located within the electronics module or on the drive trays. Live voltage could be present even though the unit is powered off. Removing the tape drive: 1. Make sure the LTO drive is offline to any applications and the Operating System. 2. Open the right side door of the tape library. 3. Turn off the power to the drive by placing the switch in the off position. 4. Carefully remove the SCSI or Fibre Channel cable from the rear of the drive. The SCSI cable requires the unscrewing of two SCSI cable screw locks. 5. Loosen the thumbscrew on the left side of the drive. 6. Grip the rear of the drive and, while pulling it toward you, place your other hand under the drive tray for support. 7. Using both hands, remove the drive tray assembly from the slot, and place it on a flat, stable surface. Caution: Possible damage to bezel: the mounting tabs on the bezel are thin and easily broken. Be careful when following the next steps. Removal of the Bezel: Note: References to left and right tabs in this procedure are based on the normal (non-rotated) operating position of the drive and the bezel. 1. Press down on the two tabs as close to the drive face as possible. Use a small screwdriver, if necessary. 2. While holding pressure, rotate the bezel away from the drive until the left tabs are clear of the drive faceplate. 3. Lift up on the bezel to release the right tabs from the faceplate. Replacement of the Bezel: 4. Orient the bezel to so the target is on the bottom. 5. Insert the right tabs into the slots next to the cartridge slot. 6. Rotate the bezel against the drive faceplate and press until the left tabs snap into place. 8. Check that the bezel is against the drive faceplate at the left end. Caution: Possible equipment damage: When sliding the tape drive into its slot, make sure the drive SCSI or Fibre Channel cable is out of the way. Do not force the drive into the slot. 9. Slide the drive into its slot, being careful not to catch or crush any cables. 10. Tighten the thumbscrew on the left side of the drive. 11. For SCSI drives, connect the SCSI cable screw locks to the SCSI connector on the rear of the drive. Otherwise, plug the Fibre Channel connector into the drive. 12. Turn on the drive power by placing the switch to the on position. 13. Close the right side door of the library. 14. Return the system to operation. The old bezel can be discarded as it is considered a consumable item. Should you have any issues or questions, contact the Oracle Technical Support Center.
