Applies to:

Sun StorageTek VTL Plus Storage Appliance - Version: 1.0 - Build 1323 to 2.0 - Build 1656 - Release: 1.0 to 2.0
Sun StorageTek VTL Prime System - Version: 1.1 - Build 2076 to 1.1 - Build 2076   [Release: 1.0 to 1.0]
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)

Goal

Provide information on if/how a VTL Appliance can be re-racked from the standard F40 rack to a customer rack.

Solution

This is possible, but requires an Oracle Certified VTL person to perform and would be Time & Material cost.
Customers should contact Oracle Support to request this.

NOTE: Reracking is best done during initial install, as there are risks of data loss or other issues that can arise from moving the equipment with live data.

Internal Oracle personnel can refer to "Procedure to convert VTL Plus Appliance from a F40 cabinet to using a customer rack".
