GoalHow to Remove and Replace a Ultra 24 Workstation System BatterySolutionDISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED: Nothing beyond basic hardware and Solaris training - TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes - TASK COMPLEXITY: 0 FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS: - PROBLEM OVERVIEW: How to Remove and Replace a Ultra 24 Workstation System Battery - WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: - WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE: 1. Powering Off the System and Removing the Left-Side Access Panel. I. Power off the system and all the peripherals connected to it. II. Turn the power switch on the back of the chassis to the Off position. caution icon Caution - Failure to properly turn off the system before you start installing components can cause serious component damage. III. To maintain system grounding, do not unplug the AC power cord from the back of the system unless the specific procedure instructs you to unplug it. IV. Loosen the two captive thumbscrews located on the rear edge of the left side access panel V. Slide the access panel approximately 1.5 cm toward the back of the workstation. VI. Tilt the top edge of the panel out, then lift the panel upward. VII. Carefully set the panel aside. Caution - If you remove the system battery, you could erase all system-specific information saved in the CMOS.Replace the System Battery1. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to lift and abruptly release the battery latch.This action releases and removes the battery 2. Install the new battery . 3. With the positive sign (+) facing up, push the battery into the battery connector until it clicks into place (see FIGURE 5-21).
