GoalHow to remove and replace an Ultra 20 Workstation System Cables.SolutionDISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED: - TIME ESTIMATE: 15 minutes - TASK COMPLEXITY: 0 FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS: - PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Replacing System Cables. - WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: - WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE: The following system cables have a connector at each end, and so can be removed or installed by the customer. All other cables are permanently attached to a system component at one end and must be removed or replaced along with the component. 1 Front I/O board cables: * Audio cable * USB cable * IEEE 1394 cables * Power button/LED cable 2 DVD cables: * IDE cable * Audio cable 3 SATA cables (SATA backplane) Cable Connections: see FIGURE 4-33 in the Ultra 20 user guide Label // Motherboard connector // Component connection 1 J8 I/O board audio 2 J9 DVD drive audio 3 F1394-1 and 2 I/O board J8 4 J45 I/O board J1 5 USB 4 I/O board J5 6 SATA 1 SATA backplane J2 7 SATA 2 SATA backplane J4 8 PRI-IDE DVD drive Each cable connector on the motherboard is labeled to help you identify the cable to which it should be connected. To remove and install system cables: 1. Turn off the power button on the back panel and all of the peripherals connected to the workstation. 2. Remove the left-side access panel. 3. Gently lay the system on its right side on a stable, nonslip surface. 4. Replace any cables that need to be replaced 5.
