How to remove and replace a Sun Fire X2270 M2 Front I/O Cable

Solution

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Replacing the Front I/O Cable

- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE
RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:
System should be powered off prior to service.

- WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Remove
1. Prepare the server for service. See How to Prepare for Service.
2. Remove the air duct. See How to Remove the Air Duct.
3. Disconnect the I/O cable from the I/O board.
4. Disconnect the two I/O cable connections from the motherboard.
5. Carefully pull the I/O cable through the cutout in the chassis divider and lift it from the chassis.

Install
1. Connect the two I/O cable connections to the motherboard.
2. Carefully route the I/O cable through the cutout in the chassis divider and over the top of the HD partition.
3. Reconnect the I/O cable to the I/O board.
4. Check the routing of all cables for obstructions.
5. Prepare the server for operation.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO
AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Power the system on.
