How to Remove and Replace a Ultra 40 M2 Workstation Battery

Solution

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW: How to Remove and Replace a Ultra 40 M2 Workstation Battery
- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE
RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:

- WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Power off the system, open and position the chassis, and remove the access panel.

I. Power off and disconnect the monitor, keyboard, mouse, network connections, and any peripherals.
II. Disconnect the power cord from the workstation.
III. Press down the two latches on the side cover and lift the cover off the workstation.
IV. Using both hands, place the workstation on its side.
V. Pivot the workstation support leg underneath the workstation.
VI. Remove the access panel:
a. Slide the lock block to the front of the system.
b. Press and release the two latches and lift the access panel.
VII. Attach the antistatic wrist strap.
VIII. If your procedure requires it, lift the fan module up and out.
IX. Find the removal or replacement procedure you need.

Removing the Battery

I. Release the battery by pressing the battery clip away from the battery until the battery shifts out of the battery socket
II. Remove the battery

Installing the Battery

I. Position the battery over the battery socket with the plus (+) side up.
II. Press the battery down into the socket until the battery clicks into place.
III. Install the side cover and the access panel.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO
AN OPERATIONAL STATE: power on the system, and verify the installation.
