PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Power Cord failed.

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer is not required to perform a system shutdown.

The Sun Fire V240 server has dual redundant power supplies each with its own power cord. You can swap one power cord while the other one is still running.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
Replace the bad power cord.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

If the replacement was a hot swap on a redundant configuration, the system should be operational and need no further work.

If the replacement required a shut down, the server needs to be turned on and returned to service.

PARTS NOTE:
Refer to the System Handbook for the country specific type of power cord.
