DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED: General Sun X64 Servers Knowledge.

TASK COMPLEXITY: 0

TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Power Supply Replacement
- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE
RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:
If the server has a redundant power supply, you are able to remove or install the power supply without shutting down the server, provided that the other power supply is online and working.
If the server have not this redundant unit, the server must be offline.

If a power supply fails and you do not have a replacement available, to ensure proper airflow, either leave the failed power supply installed in the server or
remove the failed power supply and install a filler panel.

- WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1. Attach an antistatic wrist strap.

2. Identify which power supply (0 or 1) requires replacement.

3. Disconnect the power cord from the faulty power supply.

4. Grasp the power supply handle and press the release latch

5. Pull the power supply out of the chassis.

6. Installation is the reverse of this procedure.

Caution – Whenever you remove a power supply, you should replace it with
another power supply or a filler panel; otherwise, the server might overheat due to
improper airflow.
