DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)

VLE, ZFS, Solaris and Sun X64 Training

TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes

TASK COMPLEXITY: 0

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

1. Attach an antistatic wrist strap.

When servicing or removing server components, attach an antistatic strap to your wrist and then to a metal area on the chassis.

2. Remove any media from the drive.

3. Power off the server.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1. Removing DVD Drive

1.1 Push down on the latch on the top left corner of the DVD drive or filler panel.

1.2 Slide the DVD drive or filler panel out of the server.(you should replace with another DVD drive or filler panel; otherwise server might overheat due to improper airflow)

2. Installing DVD Drive

2.1 Unpack the DVD drive or filler panel (If it is a DVD drive, place it on an antistatic mat)

2.2 Slide the DVD drive or filler panel into the front of the chassis until it seats.

3. Return the server to operation

3.1 Power on the server.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Restart system and have the System administrator verify functionality of system.
