FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW: System Board Battery Replacement
- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

System must powered down the system Power Cord must be disconnected.

NOTE - 'If this is an Engineered system then the system administrator should prepare the system for service by performing any application related functions required to shutdown the node. This might include but is not limited to performing a system backup, failover of application or services, and finally a system shutdown.'

- WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Prepare the server for service.
a. Power off the server and disconnect the power cord (or cords) from the power supply (or supplies).
b. Remove the server from the rack.
c. Attach an antistatic wrist strap.
d. Remove the top cover.

Removing the battery.

a. Place you finger between the battery and sidewall of the server chassis and push the battery away from the sidewall.
b. Twist the battery (either clockwise or counter-clockwise) and lift it out.

Installing Battery.

1. Unpack the replacement battery.
2. Press the new battery into the battery holder with the positive side (+) facing the server chassis sidewall.
3. If the service processor is configured to synchronize with a network time server using the Network Time Protocol (NTP), the ILOM clock will be reset as soon as the server is powered on and connected to the network. Otherwise, proceed to the next step.
4. If the service processor is not configured to use NTP, you must reset the ILOM clock using the ILOM CLI or the web interface.
5. Return the server to operation.
a. Install the top cover.
b. Return the server to the normal rack position.
c. Reconnect the power cord (or cords) to the power supply (or supplies) and power on the server.
Verify that the AC Present LED is lit.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

- WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Check for full system functionality
