Goal

Information on the PUA2 Dual Channel Fibre Channel Card.

Solution

Requirements:
PUA2 Dual Channel FC Card
- 1432 code level or later on the SL500
- SLC version 5.25 or later
- Dual Channel FC Hardware Activation File From E-delivery

Overview of the PUA2 Dual Channel FC Feature
- The PUA2 card allows the customer to have two separate FC host interfaces to the SL500 library. When the dual-path FC option is activated, the additional interface can be used for increasing bandwidth or for redundancy.
- Note: Failover requires suitable host software—failover is not automatic.
- The dual-path FC feature has to be activated by installing the Hardware Activation file via SLC. If the dual-path FC feature isn’t activated then only port 1 of the PUA2 will be able to be used as a library control path.
- The ports on the PUA2 card are 8GB Qlogic chips.

Note:
The PUA2 is to be the replacement for the MPU2 card.

Note:
Refer to TIP:3000 Library Fibre Channel (MPU2/PUA2) Interface in the
SL500 Diagnostic and Troubleshooting Guide for further diagnosis information.
