Nothing beyond basic partner training to be qualified as a Sun Service Delivery Partner. TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes DELIVERY REQUIREMENT: Schedule for immediate replacement within contractual terms. FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? : The customer should conduct an orderly software and system shutdown. System power off is required. WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE: REMOVING PCIe CARD 1. Power off the workstation. 2. Remove the left-side access panel. 3. Gently lay the system on its right side on a stable, nonslip surface. 4. Remove any cables connected to the card. 5. Use a #2 screwdriver to remove the PCIe card retainer screw. NOTE: Look at FIGURE 3–18 Removing a PCIe Graphics Card in the Maintence manual. There is a retainer clip that must be pushed to allow the card to be removed. 6. To remove, pull the PCIe card upward. INSTALLING PCIe CARD 1. Power off the workstation. 2. Remove the left-side access panel. 3. Gently lay the system on its right side on a stable, nonslip surface. 4. Use a #2 screwdriver to remove the back panel bracket cover for the slot. 5. Position the card over the selected slot and ensure that the notch in the connector on the motherboard aligns with the notch in the connector of the PCIe card. 6. Press down on the card until it is completely seated in the slot. 7. Secure the PCIe card to the chassis back panel using the retaining screw. 8. Close the workstation and prepare for operation.
