Nothing beyond basic partner training to be qualified as a Sun Service Delivery Partner. TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes DELIVERY REQUIREMENT: Schedule for immediate replacement within contractual terms. FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? : The customer should conduct an orderly software and system shutdown. System power off is required. WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE: 1. Power off theworkstation. 2. Remove the side access panel. 3. Gently lay the systemon its right side on a stable, nonslip surface. 4. Locate the HD to be removed. 5. Push the plastic latch in the direction of the engraved arrow(away from the metal locking handle) until the HD handle pops out. 6. Grasp the HD handle and pull straight out to remove the HD from the system. 7. Set the HD on an antistatic surface. 8. Remove the new HD from its antistatic packaging. 9. Locate the HD assembly and HD cage guides. You must install a boot drive in HD 0, the top slot. Install a second HD in HD 1, the second slot. You can install up to four HDs. The third and fourth HD slots are designated as HD 2 and HD 3, respectively. 10. Align the HD so the drive is centered with the slot numbering on the HD cage. Be sure that the labeled side of the HD faces upward and the handle hinge is on the left. 11. Slide the HD into the HD cage until the metal locking handle begins to close. 12. Press the metal locking handle closed until it locks the HD into the HD cage. 13. Inspect the hard drive assembly to verify the following items: â The metal locking handle is fully closed. â The HD is seated in the backplane connector.
