How to Replace a Sun Ultra 27 Workstation Battery

Solution

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)
Nothing beyond basic partner training to be qualified as a Sun Service Delivery Partner.

TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

The customer should conduct an orderly software and system shutdown.
System power off is required.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1. Re-check the Part Number for the new battery and measure his capacity.

2. Power off the workstation.

3. Remove the left-side access panel.

4. Use the tip of a stylus or screwdriver to lift and quickly release the battery retaining latch.

5. Press the new battery with the positive sign (+) facing up into the battery holder.

6. Close the workstation and prepare for operation.


OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
