Goal

Replace the I/O Board

Solution

CAP PROBLEM OVERVIEW: How to remove and replace the I/O Board
WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED? Basic understanding of x2200 M2 server, #2 Phillips Screw Driver & antistatic strap.
Time Estimate: 15 minutes
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE
RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?

Power off the server, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the server from the electrical outlet.
Remove all cables connected to the I/O board.
Remove the screws securing the I/O board to the DVD cage.
Pull the I/O board back slightly, then upwards to disengage the board from the guides on top of the HDD cage.

To Install the I/O Board

Position the I/O board on top of the HDD cage so the openings on the board line up with the guides on top of the HDD cage.

Gently push the I/O board down to engage the guides and push the board forward to secure it.

Fasten the screws to secure the I/O board to the mounting bracket.

Reconnect all internal cables to the I/O board.

Before reinstalling the cover on the server, check the routing of all cables for obstructions. 

Reconnect all external cables to the x2200 M2 server and monitor POST via serial or vga monitor.

The service manual location for the particular product with the instructions on how to remove and
replace the component/sub-component.
