How to Replace a Sun Fire X2250 Power Supply GoalHow to Replace a Sun Fire X2250 Power SupplySolutionDISPATCH INSTRUCTIONSWHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?) Nothing beyond basic partner training to be qualified as a Sun Service Delivery Partner. TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? : The customer should conduct an orderly software and system shutdown. System power off is required. WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE: 1. Power off the system and remove the cover 2. Remove the air duct. 3. Disconnect the three power supply cables from the motherboard. 4. Perform the following to disconnect the power supply connection from the hard disk drives (HDDs): a. Disconnect the HDD power harness plug from the power supply unit. b. Squeeze the tabs on the connector and push it through the cut out in the chassis bulkhead. 5. Remove the captive screws. 6. Position the power supply over the chassis power-supply cage. 7. Insert the power supply into the chassis and push it forward so that it is flush with the back panel. 8. Install the power supply and fasten the captive screws. 9. Connect three of the power supply cables to the motherboard. 10. Reinstall the cable clips to the power supply cables. This ensures that the power supply cables will not obstruct the CPU airstream. 11. Perform the following procedures to reconnect the power supply to the hard disk drives (HDDs): a. Squeeze the tabs on the connector and push it through the cut out in the chassis bulkhead. b. Reconnect the HDD power harness plug to the power supply unit. 12. Reinstall the air duct. 13. Check the routing of all cables for obstructions, and then reinstall the cover.
