Goal

Support for Dual Fibre Channel Cards in SL500 library.

Solution

Following is information on the SL500 Dual Fibre Channel Cards

New Dual Fibre Channel Control Card
- 2 FC ports on a single Fibre Channel card.
- Fail over depends on backup or archive application support.
- Ports can be used active: active with partitioning.

Firmware Requirements:

- SL500 Library Firmware: 1432
- SL Console Firmware: 5.25

Check ISV support of  Dual Fibre Channel Feature:
- Full Support
      Symantec Netback 6.5 or higher
- Manual Failover Support
     Tivoli Storage Manager
     CA ARCserve

Ordering the Dual Port FC Cards:
- Dual Fiber Control Card (Only for use in FC Base unit library.  Not Bridge Based libraries.)
- Must order Hardware Activation File with card in order to activate the second port on the card.

- Card 7100447
- HWAF: 7101409
Part Numbers ATO - (new builds)
- Card 7100449
- HWAF: 7101408

This part will require the customer to download the activation key for all slots from the E-Delivery website.

- Customer can download and install electronic file.

NOTE:
ATO is "Assemble To Order".  This is a WWOPs term used for when you are ordering a new system.
PTO is for xoptions/upgrades.
HWAF is "Hardware Activation Files".  These are "keys" that enable certain features or slots. (Replaces the SILKS keys we used to use).
