Fix
The "exact" processes are documented in the User Guides or Admin Guides for each product.
Generally speaking, the following would a suggested action plan.
Stop all processes that use tape. Backup, recovery and any other tape processes.
Shut down the applications that drive backup, recovery and any other tape processes.
Shut down the servers that run the applications that drive backup, recovery and other tape processes.
Make sure there are no tapes left in tape drives or the library CAP.
You are now free to shutdown the VTL application, and power off the associated server.
Shutdown and power off the KMA's
Shutdown and power off the library.
Again, exactly how these applications and devices are shutdown are included in the User or Admin Guides.
To bring everything back, reverse this process, with one added note.
Verify the customer's network is backup and working (especially the one used by the KMA's) before starting to bring up anything tape related.
