Goal
Remove and replace an x4275 SAS Cable
Fix
CAP PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Faulty SAS Cable(s)

TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes
FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.
Then power down the system and disconnect the Power Cord.
WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1. Power off the server and disconnect the power cord (or cords) from the power supply (or supplies).
2. Slide the server out of the rack.
3. Remove the top cover.
4. Untwist the cable tie downs to release the SAS cable(s).
5. To disconnect the cables from the host bus adapter (HBA) PCIe card, depress the latch, push in toward the connector, and then pull out to remove the cable(s).
Note ! Take note of which connector the cable is connected to.
6. Disconnect the SAS cable from the disk drive cage disk expander card
a. To gain access to the disk expander card, remove the fan power board.
b. Remove the disk expander card and disconnect the SAS cable.
7. Remove the cable.
Re-Install in X4275
1. Install the cable in the disk expander card.
2. Install the disk expander card.
3. Install the fan power board.
4. Route the cable down beside the fan power board on the right side facing the server front panel to prevent the cable from blocking the airflow.
5. Install the fan modules.
6. Plug the cable connector into the connector on the HBA card from which the SAS cable was removed.
7. Press the cables in the cable tie down and secure the cable with the tie down.
1. Install the top cover.
2. Install the server into the rack.
3. Power on
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Check for full system functionality
