It is recommended(but not required) the following trainning course: WZT-5582: Sun Blade 6000 Modular System Installation, Administration and Troubleshooting.

TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

0. DIMM Population Rules

a. Each CPU can support a maximum eight Identical(same manufacturer, size, and speed) DDR2 DIMMs.

b. DIMM slots are paired and DIMMs must be installed in pairs. Sockets are colored black or white to indicate paired slots by matching colors.

c. Populate DIMMs in farthest slot from CPU first. First pair to be populated should be D7/D6, then D5/D4, and so on.

1. Power off server and remove server module from chassis

a. Press together and hold green ejector buttons

b. Open ejector levers by rotating them out from server module

c. Pull server module out. Put it on antistatic surface

2. Remove main cover: Press down on the cover release button, slide main cover toward rear of chassis, Grasp cover by rear edge and lift it

3. Press fault indicator button on motherboard to illuminate LED(amber) for failed DIMM

4. Remove a DIMM: Rotate DIMM slot ejectors outward. The DIMM is partially ejected from socket. Lift DIMM straight up to remove it

5. Install a DIMM: Ensure DIMM slot ejectors are fully open. Align notch in bottom edge of DIMM with key in DIMM socket. Press down evenly on both top corners of DIMM

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Post work required to bring the system back online
