No specific skills required TIME ESTIMATE: 45 minutes DELIVERY REQUIREMENT: Immediate TASK COMPLEXITY: 0 FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Faulty or defective PCI Card. WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? Data backup not required but recommended as a precaution. Orderly shutdown of applications. Shutdown of OS and power down of server. WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE: Ensure standard ESD procedures are followed 1. Power off the server and unplug (REMOVE) the power cords 2. Remove the main cover 3. Locate the PCI card to be replaced 4. Label cables and disconnect from existing PCI card 5. Release the PCI card by moving the locking lever upward and carefully remove the PCI card by pulling up 6. Install the replacement PCI card into the slot, ensure it is engage properly 7. Close the locking lever over the rear connector of the PCI card 8. Replace the main cover 9. Re-attach the power cords OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE: Verify access to the new PCI card.
